Negative reinforcement
Increasing a behavior by removing or avoiding an aversive stimulus after the behavior, such as fastening a seat belt to stop an irritating alarm.
Punishment
Any consequence that decreases the likelihood of a behavior recurring. Punishment is defined by its effect on behavior, not by whether it is physically painful.
Positive punishment
