How do I create my first deck?

Yes. On the Create Deck page choose "Import". Paste a Quizlet export (tab-separated format) or an Anki .apkg file and Mneva converts it instantly. No account linking required.

What's the difference between browsing cards and grading them?

When you open a deck, you start in classic browse mode: tap a card or press Space to flip it and see the answer, then tap ✓ (got it) or ✗ (didn't know it). This is simple self-grading. Your results are recorded, but no spaced repetition scheduling happens. To use the full SR algorithm, toggle SR mode on at the top. In SR mode the buttons change to Again / Hard / Good / Easy, and Mneva schedules each card's next review based on your answer. Browsing with ✓/✗ is quick self-checking; SR grading drives long-term retention.

How does spaced repetition work in Mneva?

In SR mode, after you flip a card you rate how well you knew it: Again (completely forgot), Hard (significant difficulty), Good (correct with moderate effort), or Easy (effortless recall). Cards you struggle with return sooner, sometimes minutes later. Cards you know cold get pushed weeks or months into the future. This spaces your reviews at the moment you're about to forget, which research shows is the most efficient way to build permanent memory.

What happens when I tap "Again"?

"Again" resets the card to the beginning of its learning cycle. The card re-enters the queue immediately. You will see it again by the end of the session. In SR mode, Mneva auto-retries all "Again" cards in a dedicated relearning round, so you get immediate reinforcement on what you missed.

How is Train mode different from spaced repetition?

Train mode uses a Leitner-box system (5 boxes from New → Graduated) instead of SM-2. It adapts question difficulty: you start with multiple choice, and once you pass a card enough times it switches to typed answers. Train mode also factors in your response speed and accuracy history to prioritize weaker cards. You can use both: Train for adaptive practice, SR for long-term retention.

What study games are available?

Mneva offers ten games. Six core games are free: Matching, Multiple Choice, Typing, Speed Round, True or False Blitz, and Survivor. Four Scholar games unlock with a paid plan: Meteor Strike, Crossword Blitz, Concept Defense, and Memory Grid. Each game reinforces recall differently. Variety improves long-term retention.

What is the Memory Map?

The Memory Map is a visual knowledge graph that shows every card as a node, colored by how well you know it, from teal (mastered) to rose (critical). Cards orbit in concentric rings by topic, and each node shows how long ago you last reviewed it. Pro users get the full interactive map; free users see a preview.

Mneva is a Progressive Web App. Install it on your device and your decks will be cached for offline study. Progress syncs automatically when you reconnect.

What content can I generate cards from?

The AI generator supports: PDF documents, YouTube videos (via transcript), web pages, plain text paste, voice memos, and file uploads. Each source is processed, chunked, and turned into clean question–answer pairs.

How accurate is the AI-generated content?

Generation quality depends on source quality. For well-structured textbooks and lecture slides quality is high. Always review generated cards before studying. The deck editor makes it quick to edit or delete any card.

Does AI generation count against a usage limit?

Free users have a monthly AI generation limit. Pro users get a higher limit. Check your current usage in Settings.

How do I upgrade to Pro?

Go to Settings → Subscription or visit the Pricing page and tap "Upgrade". Payments go through Stripe. You'll get access to all Pro features straight away.

Can I cancel at any time?

Yes. Cancel anytime from Settings → Subscription. You keep Pro access until the end of your current billing period, then drop back to the free tier. No cancellation fees.

What is a Study Circle?

A Study Circle is a private group where members can share decks, track each other's streaks, and appear on a shared leaderboard. Great for study groups, classes, or friend groups.

How do I invite someone to my Circle?

Open your Circle and tap "Invite". Copy the invite code or link and share it. Members who join with the code are added to the circle instantly.

Can I make my decks public on the Marketplace?

Yes. Open any deck, go to Settings, and toggle "Publish to Marketplace". Other users can then search for it, preview it, and fork it to their own library.

How do I change my display name or avatar?

Go to Settings → Profile. You can update your display name and choose from a range of avatar styles. Changes take effect immediately across the app.

How do I delete my account?

Go to Settings → Account → Danger Zone and tap "Delete Account". This permanently removes all your decks, study history, and account data. This action cannot be undone.

Where is my data stored?
